Pricing
How the money works
The part most processors would rather summarise than explain.
How does interchange-plus pricing work?
Every processor pays the card networks the same wholesale interchange. That part is a fixed floor nobody controls. On top of it, we add one transparent markup: 0.80% + $0.20 per transaction for Visa, Mastercard, and Discover (0.90% for Amex, 0.95% for other cards), plus a $25/month account fee. Flat-rate processors bury a bigger markup inside a single number like 2.9%. You only pay the interchange your cards actually cost, plus our small, published markup.
Do I have to replace my hardware?
No. Lite POS and up integrate with your existing POS and processor. Bring what you have, no rip and replace required.
How is this cheaper than Square or Toast?
Square, Toast, and similar flat-rate processors quote one blended number (often 2.6% to 2.9% plus a fixed fee) that hides a large markup over interchange. We charge the real interchange plus a published 0.80% markup, which usually lands well below their blended rate, with no per-terminal software markup on the lower tiers. Run your numbers in the calculator above, then confirm the exact figure with a 2-minute statement analysis.
Switching
Getting from there to here
What actually happens, and how long each part takes.
What does switching actually involve?
Send us a recent statement, we show you your real effective rate, and if the numbers work you fill in a short application. Underwriting takes one to three business days. Then an onboarding call gets you set up, and you start taking payments. You keep running on your current processor until the day you go live.
When do I get my money?
Next business day funding. Batch out by about 10pm local time and the deposit lands the next business day. Weekends and bank holidays follow the banking calendar, the same as every processor.
What if I am already on a good rate?
Then we will tell you so. The calculator and the statement analyzer both report a negative result honestly, and neither has a code path that manufactures a saving. If you are already on a lean interchange-plus deal, the things we would still win you are Tap to Phone, next-day funding, and a support line a person actually answers.
Who actually processes the payments?
Saberpay is a sub-account program powered by SoftPoint LLC, running on Fiserv rails. That is the same infrastructure behind a large share of card payments in the United States. Your money moves on established rails, not on anything experimental.
Do you work outside the United States?
We cover all fifty US states today. Mexico and Puerto Rico run through a separate acquirer, so talk to us about those before you plan around them.
Is support really bilingual?
Yes. English or Spanish, 24/7/365, and the people answering are trained on how merchant businesses actually run rather than reading from a script.
Tax and accounting offices
If your year is ten weeks long
Seasonal volume changes what matters in a processor. These are the questions tax offices ask.
How does your pricing work?
Interchange-plus. Every processor pays the card networks the same wholesale interchange; that part is a fixed floor. On top of it we add one transparent markup: 0.80% + $0.20 per transaction for Visa, Mastercard, and Discover (0.90% for Amex, 0.95% for other cards), plus a $25/month account fee. Flat-rate processors like Square hide a bigger markup inside a single blended number. You only pay the interchange your cards actually cost, plus our small published markup.
How do I know what I would actually save?
Upload your last three processing statements to our savings analyzer and it reads your real effective rate and card mix, then shows exactly what you pay now versus Saberpay. If you are already on a lean rate, we tell you honestly rather than overpromise.
Can I switch in the middle of tax season?
Yes. Setup is fast, with no rip and replace. Most offices are running on Saberpay in days, with no downtime at the counter. Funds settle to your bank the next business day.
Do I have to replace my hardware or software?
No. Lite POS and up integrate with your existing POS and processor, and you can keep the software you already run, from QuickBooks to a CRM. You can also take payments with no hardware by downloading SoftPoint on an iPhone or Android phone.
My volume is seasonal. Does that change my rate?
The markup does not change. Interchange itself varies a little by card type, but our 0.80% + $0.20 markup is the same whether you are running 30 returns in July or 600 in April. No volume tiers, no busy-season surprises.
Is support really bilingual?
Yes. Call us in English or Spanish and reach a real person who understands tax and accounting businesses, not a generic call center.
Still have a question?
Email sales@saberpay.io or call 1-800-784-0277. A person picks up, in English or Spanish.
